|wildflowers, drawn from life, and cut life-size in brass using water-jet cutters. The flowers are analog and
the drawing has the quirks that come with handdrawing on pen and paper. Yet the technology to cut
the brass reinvents the flowers in a new medium of brass. A bench is proposed so that passersby can sit
and enjoy the sites and visual feast that is Henderson at all times of day. At night, the bench can be lit
from within with a simple solar outdoor light so that the wildflowers are silhouetted slightly. My work
involves drawing and painting urban greenscapes—always life size and painted onsite—so I am
excited to translate the wildflowers into public sculpture.
